WHAT IS STAR:
In order to provide an efficient, effective and cost saving Procurement Service, Trafford's Councils Corporate Procurement Service was transformed into a shared procurement service with Stockport and Rochdale Councils.
The new service is known as STAR and the STAR Shared Procurement Service works across all 3 Councils supporting both Schools and Corporate Services.
STAR service strives to provide a high quality procurement service that includes all aspects of the contract management process, from assisting in the development of a specification of requirements through to undertaking a fully compliant procurement process and contract monitoring and review.
Many maintained schools currently use this service to help procure goods and services and STAR helps to achieve the best contract possible for its schools. Schools seeking services through STAR can be assured that the service is operating to the general principles as outlined in the Councils Corporate Procedure Rules and Schools Financial Procedure Rules (documents available via the Councils website and STAR website) and Procurement legislation and can support schools in undertaking the onerous procedures outlined in the CPR's.
