Communication Champion Training

**Level 1 - Introduction** Including - An introduction to Wellcomm and Nursery Talk

Outline

The aim of the course is for Communication Champions to learn about their role, how to identify training needs, how to assess children and confidently navigate their way through the Wellcomm pack that will be provided on this course.

The course will enable practitioners to understand the terminology used by speech and language therapists, how language evolves and the delays that can occur in its development.

This goes hand in hand with the launch of our Communication Champions scheme - those who attend this training will receive a Wellcomm pack on loan worth £330! (one pack per setting)

Description

Group settings need to nominate a Communication Champion - ideally a graduate/highly qualified staff member who can disseminate learning effectively. (Only one Communication Champion per setting - Please do NOT book more than one place)

It will be the role of the Communication Champion to co-ordinate the Giving Voice Recognition Award in their setting, oversee and quality assure the use of the Wellcomm pack and ensure that delegates attending any of the training courses within the speech and language pathway disseminates the content to the team.

Courses within the speech and language pathway will link to the Giving Voice Recognition Award. Early years settings will be able to earn bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards by attending various courses.
